The Sustainable City in Dubai has joined the fourth edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit as a platinum partner. The event will take place from 9 to 11 January 2026 at Emirates Towers, DIFC, and the Museum of the Future under the theme “Content for Good.” It is the world’s largest summit dedicated to the content creation industry and is organised by the UAE Government Media Office. The partnership gives content creators access to environmental narratives that support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Sustainability projects and solutions will gain visibility through an audience of more than one billion followers worldwide. The Sustainable City plans to use the summit platform to showcase its expertise in green urban development to a global audience.

Khadija Hussain, Executive Director of Government Communications at the UAE Government Media Office and Deputy CEO of the summit, explained the partnership through shared objectives. “Smart and sustainable cities represent an inspiring model of what the future can be. We aim to highlight the influential role of purpose-driven content in promoting environmental and social awareness. Creativity and responsibility go hand in hand — the content creation industry can be a true partner in raising ecological consciousness.”

Why is the developer of Dubai’s eco-city investing in the content industry?

Faris Saeed, Founder and Chairman of SEE Holding, the developer of The Sustainable City, sees the partnership as an opportunity to integrate sustainability principles into digital storytelling. “We look forward to showcasing the next generation of smart and sustainable cities driven by advanced technologies and artificial intelligence. These cities place people at the centre of design and planning to achieve net-zero emissions and improve quality of life.”

Rising demand for eco-friendly housing is reflected in UAE property news, where buyers increasingly choose developments with lower operational costs thanks to solar power and green infrastructure. Families value not only environmental awareness but also tangible savings on utility bills.

Saeed added that the goal is to inspire content creators to embrace impactful environmental and social messages aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 vision. “We aim to nurture a more conscious and environmentally responsible community.”

The Sustainable City in Dubai is the first fully integrated eco-community in the Middle East. The project spans five million square feet in DubaiLand and stands out for its balanced design, harmonising social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

How the first fully sustainable city in the region works and what it offers residents

Key features of The Sustainable City include:

  • Clean solar energy without reliance on traditional power grids
  • Urban farms within the community for growing vegetables
  • A 75% reduction in carbon footprint compared to standard housing
  • Infrastructure designed for walking, cycling, and electric vehicles

The city promotes a car-free lifestyle, encouraging walking, cycling, and electric transport. It serves as a practical model for the smart, sustainable cities of the future. Residents benefit not only from green principles but also from tangible advantages:

  • Lower electricity bills thanks to solar panels
  • Access to fresh produce from urban farms
  • A safe, traffic-free environment for children
  • A community of like-minded residents who value sustainability

Investors considering purchases in eco-friendly developments and exploring financial aspects of ownership often ask, is there inheritance tax in Dubai or other UAE parts? The emirate does not impose taxes on property transfers to heirs, making long-term investment in sustainable housing projects financially attractive for families planning to stay in the UAE for years to come.
