Eaton invests hundreds of millions of dollars in a new manufacturing complex in Dubai

The American corporation Eaton has begun construction of a factory in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The 36,000-square-meter facility is scheduled to open in 2026 and will create 700 jobs. The investment amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars, although the exact figure has not been disclosed.

The plant will produce electrical and electronic components for data centers, commercial buildings, and energy facilities, serving markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It will implement twenty Industry 4.0 technologies, and the building will be certified under the LEED Gold environmental standard.

Why is this logistics hub, connecting billions of consumers, so strategic?

Eaton President Paulo Ruiz calls the decision a strategic move. Jebel Ali connects to 3.5 billion people through its seaports, airports, and land routes. More than 10,000 international companies already operate in the zone, creating a ready-made ecosystem for industrial cooperation. Localizing production shortens delivery times and strengthens supply chains against external shocks. Eaton’s clients in the region will receive equipment faster, without relying on congested global routes. For the company, it also means greater flexibility to respond to market demand.

The project aligns with Dubai’s D33 strategy, launched to turn the emirate into a world-class manufacturing hub. In 2024, the industrial sector contributed AED 37.6 billion to Dubai’s economy, and by 2030 the government aims to increase the sector’s output by another USD 5 billion. According to real estate news Dubai today, there is a steady rise in corporate interest in industrial sites across the emirate.

A focus on sustainability and advanced technology

The plant will include several key divisions:

  • production lines
  • an engineering center
  • a client collaboration area
  • a research unit
  • a training center

Hadi Badri from the Dubai Economic Development Corporation emphasized that Eaton’s choice reinforces Dubai’s reputation as a destination for high-tech industries. Companies here benefit from skilled talent, world-class infrastructure, and transparent business regulations.

Abdulla Bin Damithan from DP World added that the industrial sector already makes a significant contribution to Dubai’s economy, and new projects like this strengthen the emirate’s position in global trade. Jebel Ali offers ready-to-use infrastructure, allowing complex facilities to start operations without long preparatory stages.

The factory design integrates renewable energy sources and energy-efficient systems, meeting LEED Gold requirements. Eaton’s focus on sustainable development aligns with the UAE government’s goals to reduce the country’s carbon footprint and promote green industry. Ongoing improvements to the inheritance law in UAE also make the emirate increasingly attractive for long-term investment. Corporations benefit from a predictable legal framework that supports multi-decade planning. Eaton expects the new plant to operate for many years and become a key hub in the company’s regional strategy.
