The U.S. cricket team crushes the UAE with a record-breaking victory in World Cup qualifiers

The United States cricket team delivered a stunning performance in Dubai, defeating the hosts with a historic margin and taking the lead in League 2, the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. With a six-point advantage over their nearest rivals, the U.S. now enjoys a strong position on the road to the main event.

The match in Dubai was a display of American dominance. Scoring 292 runs for just three wickets, captain Monank Patel’s squad switched to bowling and completely dismantled the opposition. The UAE managed only 49 runs — the tenth-lowest total in men’s One Day International history. The 243-run victory marked the U.S.’s most significant ODI win, second only to their 305-run triumph over Suriname in 2008.

A record-breaking partnership turned the game around

The start looked disastrous — two runs for three wickets. At that critical moment, Milind Kumar and Sai Mukkamalla stepped in and took control. Their partnership lasted 258 balls and produced 264 runs without a single wicket lost. Mukkamalla ended with 137 runs off 149 balls, while Kumar scored 123 off 125.

Their performance broke the record for the highest partnership among ICC associate members in men’s ODIs. The previous mark of 232 runs was held by Jersey’s Asa Tribe and Josh Lawrenson during the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. Kumar also achieved a personal milestone, reaching 1,000 ODI runs in just 21 innings — faster than any other associate member player. The previous record was 22 innings by Aqib Ilyas. Among full ICC members, only Shubman Gill, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam-ul-Haq reached the mark faster.

Kumar’s average now stands at 67.73 — higher than the legendary Ryan ten Doeschate’s 67.00. While his career is still young and maintaining such numbers will be challenging, the achievement is remarkable.

Bowlers dominate under the Dubai heat

At just 22, Rushil Ugarkar became the youngest American player to claim five wickets in an ODI. His figures — 5 wickets for 22 runs in 8.1 overs — were outstanding. His bowling partner Saurabh Netravalkar added 3 wickets for only 4 runs in 8 overs.

The UAE lineup collapsed almost immediately. At one point, the score stood at 28 for eight. The only batsman to reach double digits was Junaid Siddique, who scored exactly 10 runs before becoming Ugarkar’s final victim.

With four wins in four matches in the UAE tour, the American team now tops League 2 with a comfortable three-victory lead. Their consistent form in both batting and bowling makes them strong contenders for World Cup qualification in 2027.

UAE luxury real estate news highlights a growing investor interest in sports-related infrastructure across the emirate. Cricket stadiums and training facilities are increasingly becoming part of premium development portfolios aimed at international buyers. The absence of inheritance tax in the UAE continues to attract wealthy athletes and investors who view the country as a stable, tax-efficient location for long-term asset placement.

The resounding victory in Dubai showed that American cricket has entered a new era. The team is not just winning matches — it is breaking records and confidently advancing toward the world’s biggest cricket stage.
