Gulfood Manufacturing 2025 opens in Dubai with a record number of participants

One of the largest industrial exhibitions of the year has opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Gulfood Manufacturing 2025 has brought together 2,500 companies from 79 countries to showcase the latest innovations in the food production sector. From November 4 to 6, all 21 halls of the venue are functioning as a single platform where equipment manufacturers meet buyers from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

This year’s figures have made a strong impression, with organizers reporting a 32% increase compared to the previous edition. The growth reflects more than just rising interest in the event. Dubai has been actively positioning itself as a global manufacturing hub in recent years. The city has become a leader in attracting foreign investment, surpassing traditional industrial centers in Europe and the United States.

Why are manufacturers choosing the emirate?

The relocation of factories and the establishment of new production sites in the region are driven by clear logic. Dubai’s logistics infrastructure connects markets across three continents. From here, products can be shipped faster and more cost-effectively to the Gulf, Africa, India, and Pakistan. Governments in the region have invested USD 3.8 billion in developing food technologies, supporting factory modernization, research centers, and startups.

The pace of technological adoption also stands out. Artificial intelligence in manufacturing is growing at 43.65% annually – the highest rate in the world. At the exhibition, Tetra Pak presented an automation system that analyzes production in real time and adjusts machinery without human input. Sidel showcased its EvoBLOW Laser system for plastic bottle molding, which uses laser heating instead of halogen lamps, reducing bottle weight by 50% without compromising durability.

Natural Storage Solutions, at booth S-F82, is demonstrating freezing and storage lines for vegetables, fruits, and seafood. The company focuses on minimizing product loss during processing. Nearby, ingredient producers such as Kerry and Ingredion are showcasing innovations to reduce sugar content and replace synthetic additives with natural alternatives.

How technology is reshaping the industry

Alongside the leading exhibition, the FoodTech Summit features speakers from Mars, Unilever, and major regional manufacturers. The program includes discussions on:

  • Alternative proteins and plant-based meat
  • Extending shelf life without chemical preservatives
  • AI-driven supply chain optimization
  • The future of packaging under stricter environmental regulations

Mark Minovich, an expert in digital transformation, is presenting the concept of self-learning factories, already implemented in Germany and Japan.

Interestingly, the exhibition attracts not only industry professionals. UAE housing news frequently highlights the growing number of food industry specialists relocating to Dubai for long-term residence. The city offers a high standard of living, advanced infrastructure, and a favorable business environment. Another advantage is the answer to the question many expats ask – is there inheritance tax in Dubai? The absence of such a tax makes the emirate particularly appealing for long-term career and business planning.

Analysts forecast that the global food processing equipment market will grow by USD 21.69 billion by 2029, with developing regions – especially the Middle East – leading the expansion. Gulfood Manufacturing continues to be the place where these trends move from discussion to tangible contracts and real projects.
