Emirates has deployed its first Airbus A350 on the Adelaide route, making the Australian city the first destination in the airline’s global network to receive the ultra-long-range aircraft equipped with the new premium economy cabin. The plane touched down on 1 December 2025 and was greeted with a traditional water-cannon salute in the presence of South Australian government officials and airport executives.
Barry Brown, Emirates’ vice president for Australasia, noted that although the airline has been receiving A350 deliveries for about a year, this is the first long-haul variant with the range and performance required for nonstop flights from Dubai to Adelaide. The city had been earmarked to receive this aircraft long ago, and the plan has now been fulfilled.
What changed on the route with the new aircraft
The A350-900ULR replaces the Boeing 777-200LR, which previously operated flights EK440/441. The schedule has also been updated:
- EK440 departs Dubai at 02:00 local time and arrives in Adelaide at 20:50
- EK441 departs Adelaide at 22:50 and lands in Dubai at 05:20 the next day
The premium economy cabin features cream-coloured leather seats with wood accents. Seats are fully adjustable, each equipped with a personal screen, and passengers receive an upgraded menu and amenity kits. Additional perks include priority boarding, a dedicated check-in area and increased baggage allowance. According to Emirates, Adelaide is now the fifth and final Australian city to receive the new cabin. The airline’s entire Australian network is served by next-generation aircraft: the four-class A380, the four-class Boeing 777 from Melbourne, and now the A350 operating to Adelaide.

Emirates’ Australian network reaches a new level
The introduction of the new-generation A350 in Adelaide strengthens the carrier’s Australian network, which now operates 70 weekly flights across five major hubs — Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Investments in fleet and infrastructure reflect the region’s broader trend of recovery and expansion, as economic activity and tourism flows continue to accelerate post-pandemic. Experts note that UAE real estate investment news today shows sustained global interest in Emirati property markets, where favourable taxation, advanced infrastructure and high asset liquidity create strong incentives for investors from Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region. The launch of a direct ultra-long-haul connection between Dubai and Adelaide is expected to stimulate not only tourism but also business relations.

A convenient schedule and comfortable onboard experience reduce travel barriers for business travellers who can now avoid lengthy stopovers. At the same time, Dubai mortgage rates for non residents remain competitive compared to other global financial hubs, making real estate in the emirate accessible for buyers from Australia, Europe and Asia who seek to diversify their portfolios through property acquisition in one of the world’s fastest-growing cities. The absence of capital gains tax and the transparency of transactions further enhance Dubai’s attractiveness. The new A350 route underscores Emirates’ strategy of modernising its fleet and expanding long-haul operations, focusing on markets where demand for premium travel remains strong despite global economic uncertainty.
